The Environmental Cooperative at the Vassar Barns in collaboration with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology would like to invite you to participate in a
Yardmap Webinar and Workshop on
March 30, 2016 starting at
3:30.
Please register for the workshop here.
Yardmap is an interactive online Citizen Science effort that encourages the creation of habitat for birds and pollinators in urban and suburban areas. This initiative gives you the tools to map habitat in your backyard, schoolyard, local park and other green spaces. It also provides a wealth of information on how to create habitat as well as interact with other like-minded folks.
The Environmental Cooperative is offering two ways to participate in the YardMap Webinar on March 30th:
1) Join us in the SciVis Lab (room 101) in the new Bridge for Laboratory Sciences Building on Vassar College Campus starting at 3:30 for a webinar viewing. We will provide computers as well as time to get started using the YardMap website. Jacob Johnston from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology will be hosting the webinar (remotely) about how to use Yardmap and the goals of the project. After the webinar we will be taking a walk through Vassar’s Edith Robert Ecological Lab, an outdoor living laboratory showcasing native species and habitats. Learn how to identify common plant species and habitats in our local area. Certificates of Completion will be provided for teachers that would like to use this workshop for Professional Development credits.
2) Watch the webinar from a location of your choice starting at 4 pm (until 5:15). We will provide you with login information so that you can view and listen to the webinar on your own. The webinar will also be recorded for future use.
