Last weekend I attended the Creative Time Revolutions in Public Practice in New York City. The conference had a multitude of different speakers talking about the ways in which artists are impacting various communities. One of the highlights of the weekend was an award given to Rick Lowe of Project Row Houses in Houston, Texas. Project Row Houses is a community based housing and arts initiative that has made a tremendous change in Houston.
In his talk Rick Lowe talks about how we need to give people their dignity and provide opportunities for them to grow. This is an example that I think we could use as an inspiration for Middle Main.
Below is a video of Rick Lowe's talk and an intro by actor Wendel Pierce.
