POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (June 18, 2014) – The Middle Main Initiative is focusing their next Community Meet-Up on the topic of safety in the City of Poughkeepsie. All are welcome to come share concerns and solutions with residents, business owners, law enforcement, and other community leaders on June 25th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at The Public Safety Building, 505 Main St.
This Community Meet-Up is a continuation of the discussion about safety that took place on Friday, June 13th at Mainstay Co-working. Friday’s meeting brought together many Main Street building owners, as well as representatives from Hudson River Housing, the Common Council, the City of Poughkeepsie, and the Police Department.
The Middle Main Initiative will continue the discussion next Wednesday, June 25th. Attendees will be encouraged to answer the question, ‘What can we do now as a community, with the resources we have, to make this a safe neighborhood?’ Everyone will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions. Time will also be set aside for networking and informal discussion. As Doug Nobiletti stated at the last meeting, “The goal of the meeting was to get those situated in Middle Main Street to ‘band together and try to create change.’” This Community Meet-Up on safety encourages residents to come together and be that change.
