Ahoy Middle Main!
Thank you to all who I have met so far during my first two weeks in Middle Main for being so awfully welcoming, and encouraging to me in my role in this initiative. My formal title is the Neighborhood Marketing Americorps VISTA, and my hope is that through that I can be a, as my Marist College Rowing coach (shout out to Matt Lavin) would put it, “positive force” and presence in Middle Main and the greater community. I hope to not only generate an understanding of the great characteristics here that we have to build from, but to also expand our partnerships and engage all ‘stakeholders’ in the wellness of the city with our mission to become a ‘vibrant and creative neighborhood of choice’.
As I previously alluded, I am a recent graduate of Marist College, originally hailing from Saratoga Springs, New York. At Marist I earned my Bachelors Degree in Communications and Global Studies and spent each morning on the beautiful Hudson River coxing for the men’s rowing team. To compliment my studies, I volunteered with local non-profit organizations including Rural and Migrant Ministry and Dutchess County Community Action, and worked at Radio Woodstock. Upon graduating in May I worked on the production team of Seeger Fest, and went on to stage manage at The Summer Hoot at The Ashokan Center. These experiences brought me in contact with my interests and passions and I am excited to extend them through my involvement with Middle Main.
I am so excited to have landed firmly back in Poughkeepsie and to be involved in work that I strongly believe in and feel a personal connection to. If I have not already crossed paths with you I am sure that I will in the near future, but I encourage you to find me on facebook or to email me at email@example.com and introduce yourself!
